Health Overhaul Confusion: 1 In 5 Americans Think Law Was Repealed
Coverage continues regarding a Kaiser Family Foundation poll released Thursday that found a surprising degree of confusion about the status of the federal health overhaul.
PBS Newshour: Poll: 1 In 5 Americans Believe Health Reform Was Repealed
More than one in five Americans incorrectly believe that the health care reform law has been repealed, and another 26 percent aren't sure, according to the latest Kaiser Family Foundation Health Tracking Poll released Thursday. The NewsHour talked to Kaiser Foundation president Drew Altman about why that is, and his take on what it means for supporters and opponents of reform (Cline and Winerman, 2/24).
The Hill: One In Five Think Health Reform Not Law
About one in five Americans believe, inaccurately, that last year's sweeping health care reform law was wiped out when House Republicans voted to repeal it in January, according to a new poll. Twenty-two percent believe the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is no longer law, and another 26 percent are unsure, the Kaiser Health Tracking poll found. Slightly more than half (52 percent) correctly said the reform law is still in place. The poll indicates trouble for the White House's efforts to sell the reform law to the public as Republicans work to undo President Obama's major legislative achievement. The House voted last month to repeal the law, but an early February repeal vote in the Democratic-controlled Senate failed along party lines (Millman, 2/24).
Modern Healthcare: Americans Unsure Of Legislation: Kaiser Poll
About half of Americans believe that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is still law, following legal challenges and a vote in the House of Representatives last month to repeal the 2010 act. A new tracking poll from Kaiser Family Foundation shows that while 52% of Americans believe the Affordable Care Act is still law, 22% think it's not, and 26% report they don't know enough to say whether it still is law. Meanwhile, 48% of Americans hold an unfavorable view of the health reform law, while 43% hold favorable views (Zigmond, 2/24).
