PhRMA Releases New Survey on HIV/AIDS-Related Medications in ‘Pipeline’
The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America has released a new survey that outlines pharmaceutical company research on new and existing medications to treat HIV infection and AIDS-related conditions. The National Institutes of Health and 73 pharmaceutical companies are conducting the research, and all of the experimental drugs are "either in clinical trials or awaiting approval by the FDA." The survey found that 103 new drugs are under development, including HIV medicines classified as "next generation," which may be active against strains of drug-resistant HIV.
