Kaunda to Launch Radio Stations to Fight HIV/AIDS
Former Zambian President Kenneth Kaunda announced yesterday that he will soon launch two radio stations in Zambia that are "primarily aimed at disseminating information on HIV/AIDS," Agence France-Presse reports. Established under the auspices of the Kenneth Kaunda Children of Africa Foundation, the stations will be based in the country's western and northern provinces and will broadcast to the "whole" southern region of Africa. Kaunda also "urged" Christians to "pray for a solution to the deadly HIV/AIDS pandemic" in sub-Saharan Africa. "We are talking about 20 million people infected in the region and in a few years they will be gone. This is our challenge," he said in a live broadcast message aired on Zambia's Radio Christian Voice (Agence France-Presse, 1/10).
