Lil’ Kim, Mary J. Blige Featured in MAC Cosmetic Campaign for AIDS Charity
"Hip-hop superstar" Lil' Kim and "soul favorite" Mary J. Blige are the postergirls for a new cosmetics ad campaign designed to raise money for an AIDS charity. The two music stars have for the second year in a row signed on to promote MAC Cosmetics' Viva Glam lipsticks, and will be featured in pictures displayed throughout April in MAC shops in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, Denver, San Diego and Chicago (New Musical Express release, 2/15). All proceeds from Viva Glam lipsticks are given to the MAC AIDS Fund, which supports more than 350 HIV/AIDS organizations worldwide (MAC Web site, 2/15). Viva Glam sales garnered nearly $4 million for the MAC AIDS Fund last year, and have netted the fund nearly $19 million since 1994. The lipstick is sold in more than 30 countries (Sekhri, Reuters, 2/15).
