Kaiser Family Foundation Launches Comprehensive Health Policy Resource Site
The Kaiser Family Foundation today launched a new online resource, State Health Facts Online at www.statehealthfacts.kff.org, that provides comprehensive and current health policy information on all 50 states, the District of Columbia and U.S. territories. The free service offers information on a variety of issues, including managed care, the uninsured, Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP programs, women's health, minority health and HIV/AIDS. The site allows users to view information on a single state or to compare data between states or with national figures. KFF President and CEO Drew Altman said, "The launch of State Health Facts Online reflects the growing importance of states in health policy. This site will enable anyone, from a seasoned health policy analyst to a concerned citizen interested in health issues, to quickly and easily get information that might otherwise take weeks to collect" (KFF release, 7/11). The HIV/AIDS-specific statistics available on the site include:
- Cumulative AIDS cases;
- New AIDS cases;
- AIDS case rates;
- Persons living with AIDS;
- State HIV/AIDS policies such as testing, reporting and syringe exchange;
- Sex education policies and
- Ryan White CARE Act Funding (KFF State Health Facts Online Web site, 7/11).
