Massachusetts Legislature to Vote on Budget Restoring $2.5 Million in AIDS Spending
The Massachusetts House and Senate are expected to approve today an $85 million supplemental budget that would restore $2.5 million in AIDS spending, the Boston Globe reports (Klein, Boston Globe, 12/13). The state Legislature had originally slashed $12.2 million in spending for AIDS education and client services, but acting Gov. Jane Swift (R) proposed restoring $2.5 million of those cuts (Kaiser Daily HIV/AIDS Report, 12/5). State Senate Ways and Means Committee Chair Mark Montigny (D) said that the Legislature will address other specific areas that were affected by budget cuts as more funding becomes available (Boston Globe, 12/13).
