South Africa Offering Self-Defense Classes to Reduce Incidence of Rape, HIV Infection, PRI Reports
PRI's "The World" reported yesterday that the South African government is offering
self-defense classes in schools around the country to teach girls and women to defend themselves against rape and subsequent HIV infection. PRI reports that "there are more women and children raped in South Africa than in any other country in the world," and those who are raped "face a second assault: the very real possibility that they have been infected with HIV/AIDS." The full segment is available in RealPlayer Audio online (Costello, "The World," PRI, 3/18).
