House Appropriations Committee Passes Emergency Spending Bill Allocating $200M for Global AIDS Fund
The House Appropriations Committee on Wednesday passed a $29.4 billion emergency spending bill for fiscal year 2002 that would allocate an additional $200 million to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (House Appropriations Committee Web site, 5/15). The additional funds supplement $650 million in FY 2002 international AIDS spending that is already allocated to USAID and the Global Fund (Kaiser Daily HIV/AIDS Report, 5/13).
