U.N. Association in Canada Releases Report on Youth and HIV/AIDS Pandemic
The United Nations Association in Canada yesterday released a report on youth and the HIV/AIDS pandemic, according to a UNA-Canada press release. The report, which included contributions from young researchers, said that "conventional approaches" to fighting the disease are not working and proposed using "youth-driven action ideas" to create more effective strategies to design prevention programs. "Governments from all over the world ... agreed last year at the United Nations that young people's perspectives and their full involvement in all aspects of HIV/AIDS work and decision-making are crucial," UNA-Canada Executive Director Steve Mason said. The report, titled "Youth and the Global HIV/AIDS Crisis: A Tool-Kit for Action," is available online (UNA-Canada release, 6/25).
