Hartford Courant Profiles Futures Group International
The Hartford Courant yesterday profiled Futures Group International, an organization that specializes in computer modeling, policy issues and advocacy. The company recently worked with UNAIDS, the U.S. Census Bureau and other organizations to create a model to predict the future of the global HIV/AIDS epidemic and how new infections could be averted. That model, which was presented last week at the XIV International AIDS Conference in Barcelona, Spain, predicts that 45 million new HIV infections could occur by 2010, but that 29 million of these infections could be averted if prevention efforts are immediately expanded (Condon, Hartford Courant, 7/17).
