NPR’s ‘Fresh Air’ to Feature Pediatricians Working With Children Born with HIV
NPR's "Fresh Air" today will host Drs. Elaine Abrams and Stephen Nicholas, two Harlem Hospital Center pediatricians who work with infants born with HIV. Abrams, director of the facility's Family Care Center, and Nicholas, director of pediatrics, treated the "first wave" of children born with HIV in Harlem in the 1980s. Both physicians have also studied the effects of the virus on children's physical and mental health and on the community. Check local listings for show times (Gross, "Fresh Air," NPR, 8/5). The segment will be available online in RealPlayer Audio after the broadcast.
