Los Angeles Times Profiles Sister Mary Elizabeth Clark, Creator of AEGIS Online AIDS Information Web Site
The Los Angeles Times on Sunday profiled Sister Mary Elizabeth Clark, who more than 12 years ago created the AIDS Education Global Information System, or AEGIS, an online resource that some AIDS experts call "the most definitive -- and perhaps the most accessible -- source of information on the disease." The AEGIS Web site, which contains information from medical journals, magazines, news services and newspapers from around the world and has received more than seven million hits this year, was recently nominated for inclusion in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's Memory of the World Programme, which aims to preserve valuable information held in archives and libraries worldwide (Gottlieb, Los Angeles Times, 12/29).
