Toronto Globe and Mail Profiles U.N. Secretary General’s Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa Stephen Lewis
The Toronto Globe and Mail on Saturday profiled Stephen Lewis, the U.N.
Secretary General's Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa. According to the Globe and Mail, the job "is driving [Lewis] from despair into something approaching madness." Lewis said, "What is driving me crazy, and making me emotionally unhinged, is that we're losing too many people" to HIV/AIDS, adding, "The absolute worst of the job, the part I just can't handle, is the death." However, Lewis said, "I've never been clearer about an issue in my life. I'm going to keep doing it. As long as I can" (Nolen, Globe and Mail, 1/4). The complete article is available online.
