New York Times Profiles Rory Kennedy’s Five-Part HIV/AIDS Documentary
The New York Times today profiles Rory Kennedy's five-part series of 30-minute documentary films that focus on people living with AIDS in Brazil, India, Russia, Thailand and Uganda. The films, collectively titled "Pandemic: Facing AIDS," are being aired on HBO through July 6. Each segment follows a different story, including a Thai woman who contracted HIV through sex work, a Russian couple who were drug users and who now work to raise HIV/AIDS awareness, an HIV-positive pregnant woman and her husband in India who are seeking treatment to reduce vertical HIV transmission, a young gay man in Brazil who receives free treatment from the government, and a seven-year-old Ugandan AIDS orphan who is the head of his household (Ramsey, New York Times, 6/25).
