British musician Phil Collins has donated nearly $54,000 in royalties earned from the use of his music in South Africa to the Topsy Foundation, a South African community-based organization that cares for children affected by HIV/AIDS, the foundation said on Monday, SAPA/AllAfrica.com reports. The Gallo Record Company, which represents Collins' recording rights in South Africa, has presented approximately $53,916 -- Collins' South African royalty earnings for January 2002 through June 2003 -- to the foundation, according to the Topsy Foundation. "We are proud to build on our association with the Topsy Foundation with this generous donation from Mr. Collins," Gallo CEO Charles Kuhn said, adding, "Phil Collins' music is immensely popular in South Africa and we have every expectation that we will, together with the generosity of Phil Collins, continue to support the good cause of Topsy Foundation."
