Newark Star-Ledger Profiles Research on ‘Revolutionary’ HIV/AIDS Medications
The Newark-Star Ledger on Sunday profiled the research of Rutgers University chemist Eddy Arnold and colleagues, who say that they have developed "three revolutionary AIDS drugs" that can destroy HIV. The medications "do as HIV does when it devours immune systems: they change shape" and serve as a "master key that can fit any strand of the virus," the Star-Ledger reports. According to the Star-Ledger, "Understanding and controlling this flexibility in a treatment is crucial because HIV's biggest challenge to science and medicine has been its ability to consistently mutate, outrunning any drug or vaccine custom-designed to quash it," the Star-Ledger reports (MacPherson, Newark Star-Ledger, 12/12).
