- "HIV During Pregnancy, Labor and Delivery, and After Birth," AIDSinfo: The series of five fact sheets describe steps an HIV-positive pregnant woman can take to preserve her health and to prevent mother-to-child HIV transmission. They are aimed at HIV-positive women who are pregnant, thinking about becoming pregnant or have recently given birth (AIDSinfo E-News, 5/19).

toughchoices.org, Philadelphia Department of Public Health, Zigzag Net: The interactive Web site aims to educate teenagers about HIV/AIDS and urges them to be tested for HIV. The site also contains contact information for local groups supporting teen HIV/AIDS education. The site is funded by the city health department, developed by Zigzag and sponsored by ActionAIDS (AP/philly.com, 5/18).
- Public Policy Awards, AIDS Alliance for Children Youth & Families: The alliance on Tuesday presented the annual award to Sens. Christopher Bond (R-Mo.) and Christopher Dodd (D-Conn.) for their leadership roles in the reauthorization of Title IV of the Ryan White CARE Act, which provides services to women, children and families affected by HIV/AIDS (AIDS Alliance for Children, Youth & Families release, 5/17).
- "Perspectives on New Recommendations for Nonoccupational HIV Postexposure Prophylaxis," Journal of the American Medical Association: Roland Merchant and Kenneth Mayer of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Brown Medical School examine recently released CDC guidelines on treatment for people exposed to HIV through blood, semen, vaginal secretions, rectal secretions, breastmilk, or other body fluid contaminated with visible blood outside perinatal or "occupational situations." The guidelines recommend the use of antiretroviral drugs following sexual, injection drug use and other nonoccupational exposures to HIV (Merchant/Mayer, JAMA, 5/18).
