Kaiser Family Foundation Releases ‘AIDS at 25’ Resources
The Kaiser Family Foundation has released two new documents and other resources that provide a historical perspective on the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the United States. "AIDS at 25: An Overview of Major Trends in the U.S. Epidemic is a chart pack that outlines important epidemiological and federal-funding trends in the U.S. HIV/AIDS epidemic over time. It includes trends in HIV incidence, AIDS cases, deaths and the epidemic's effects by population, region and other key characteristics. "Evolution of an Epidemic: 25 Years of HIV/AIDS Media Campaigns in the U.S." reviews how media campaigns about HIV/AIDS in the U.S. have evolved since 1981, reflecting the changing nature of the disease as awareness and treatment have developed. It also includes information on the approaches, historical context and effects of prominent national public education campaigns. Additional resources on AIDS at 25 include an up-to-date timeline of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, fact sheets, webcasts and public opinion data (KFF release, 5/31).
