Public-Private Partnerships Reduce Redundancies In Maternal, Newborn Health Programs
In this post on USAID's "IMPACTblog," Amanda Makulec, a monitoring and evaluation associate with John Snow Inc., discusses "the Alliance for Reproductive, Maternal, and Newborn Health, which was born over a year ago to support progress towards MDGs four and five in 10 priority countries, including Bangladesh, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Tanzania, and Uganda. Together, these countries account for around 68 percent of unmet need for family planning globally, 54 percent of maternal deaths, and 56 percent of all neonatal mortality." The Alliance pursues public-private partnerships with the goals of "reducing redundancies in programming and providing a mechanism for sharing learning and best practices across donor agencies," she writes (10/24).
