Modern Healthcare: Consumers See Hospital Prices Rise 0.8% In MayConsumer prices for hospital services increased 0.8 percent in May after a 0.7 percent climb the prior month, show seasonally adjusted figures released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. In May 2010, the agency's index of consumer hospital prices increased 0.5 percent. The hospital index climbed 6.3 percent during the 12-month period ended in May compared with an 8.1 percent increase a year ago (Evans, 6/15).
