‘One-Stop Care’ HIV Clinic Opens in Atlanta
Phoenix, Ariz.-based Avesis Inc., a health care company that "primarily deals in eye care and alternative health," has opened Absolute Care, a private HIV clinic designed to give patients "one-stop care," in Atlanta, Ga., the Business Journal of Phoenix reports. The clinic provides medical care to patients with HIV, including lab work and prescription drugs, in a "comfortable, private place," and guarantees patient access to a licensed physician rather than a nurse practitioner, facility director Brent Layton said. As the "pace of construction for HIV clinics has not kept up with Atlanta's growth and often these patients must wait for care or go to two or more places for everything that they need," Layton explained that Absolute Care provides patients with an alternative option. The 9,000-square-foot clinic includes seven exam rooms and maintains several physicians and nurse practitioners on staff, with two infectious disease specialists. All forms of payment are accepted at the clinic, including Medicare, Medicaid, private pay and commercial insurance (Bryant, Business Journal of Phoenix, 12/11).
