HHS Launches Web Site Focusing on Global Health Efforts
HHS Secretary Tommy Thompson on Friday announced the launch of a new Web site, www.globalhealth.gov, that "addresses the inextricable link between domestic and international health issues," including AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis and tobacco use, according to an HHS release. The Web site will serve as a "portal of global health information for policy makers, researchers, doctors and the general public" by providing information on the department's global health efforts, statistics, reports, publications and links to global health resources. "The global health challenges for this new century are daunting. ... Because our health, economies and humanitarian values have become truly global in nature, our responses must likewise be global in nature," Thompson said. The new Web site is administered by HHS' Office of International and Refugee Health (HHS release, 8/17).
