Princess Anne Visits British HIV/AIDS Project in Nigeria
Great Britain's Princess Anne on Tuesday visited an HIV/AIDS project run by the London-based charity ActionAid in Jiwa, Nigeria, Agence France-Presse reports. She spent an hour in the village discussing with local ActionAid director Charles Abani ways that the Save the Children Fund, a charity that she patronizes, could collaborate with the project. "We had an interesting discussion and dialogue about the work we are doing here and the prospects of collaborative efforts," Abani said. Princess Anne is also scheduled to visit a Society for Family Health group working on HIV/AIDS projects. The British foreign aid ministry recently awarded the Society for Family Health and ActionAid a "major contract" to raise AIDS awareness and promote condom use in Nigeria (Agence France-Presse, 10/30).
