Last-Minute Donations Will Allow Oklahoma Regional AIDS Interfaith Network to Continue Operating
The Regional AIDS Interfaith Network, a not-for-profit organization that provides services to people living with HIV/AIDS in Oklahoma, can continue operating due to several "last-minute" donations and pledges, the Associated Press reports. RAIN had anticipated closing on May 15 because of financial difficulties; officials had projected a $40,000 budget shortfall in 2002. However, the group has received $106,000 in last-minute donations and pledges "from across the state," RAIN Executive Director Ann Van Krevelen said. RAIN, which operates on an annual budget of $270,000, served more than 230 Oklahomans affected by AIDS last year (Associated Press, 5/16).
