Rep. Barbara Lee To Lead Congressional Delegation To Ethiopia, Zambia
Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) is scheduled to lead a congressional delegation to Ethiopia and Zambia later this month to examine first-hand the HIV/AIDS and food shortage crises, the Oakland Tribune reports. The delegation is scheduled to travel from Aug. 23 through Aug. 29, according to the Tribune. "Over the next few years, the United States Congress will be more and more engaged with Africa, as we should have been all along," Lee said, adding, "Now is the time to export knowledge and technical assistance, in addition to humanitarian assistance" (Oakland Tribune, 8/14).
