Guardian Weekend Magazine Features Series of Photographs Chronicling South Africa’s AIDS Epidemic
The Guardian Weekend Magazine on Saturday featured a series of photographs by Gideon Mendel chronicling the HIV/AIDS epidemic in South Africa. Mendel released the photographs as part of a recent collaboration with the Treatment Action Campaign to raise money to increase access to antiretroviral drugs for HIV-positive South Africans (Boseley, Guardian, 10/18). The Guardian has also created an interactive Web site, which allows viewers to scroll through 360-degree images while listening to audio files of interviews with the individuals featured in the photographs (Mendel et al., Guardian, 10/18).
