Arizona Daily Star Profiles Tucson Interfaith HIV/AIDS Network, Monthly Event Aimed at Reducing AIDS-Related Stigma
The Arizona Daily Star on Thursday profiled the Tucson Interfaith HIV/AIDS Network and its Poz Cafe, a monthly gathering at which organization volunteers prepare and serve a meal to HIV-positive people and then sit down with them to eat and socialize. TIHAN -- which celebrates its 10th anniversary next month -- is made up of volunteers from 33 congregations of varying faiths and aims to educate people about HIV/AIDS, according to the Daily Star. Poz Cafe, which served its 5,000th meal on Thursday, provides a social outlet for people living with HIV/AIDS and aims to reduce the stigma surrounding the disease by bringing HIV-positive and HIV-negative people together in a positive environment (Vandeveire, Arizona Daily Star, 9/16).
