PRB Bulletin on Health Behavior; GAO Report on Global Fund Operations; Statehealthfacts.org Updated
- "Health Bulletin Number 2: Promoting Healthy Behavior," Population Reference Bureau: The 29-page bulletin -- written by Elaine Murphy, professor of global health at the George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services -- examines the role of behavior in the leading causes of death worldwide, including HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis (Murphy, "Health Bulletin Number 2: Promoting Healthy Behavior," June 2005).
- "The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria is Responding to Challenges but Needs Better Information and Documentation for Performance-Based Funding," GAO: The report finds problems associated with the information sources the Global Fund To Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria uses to make grant decisions, saying that the fund has not consistently noted reasonings behind providing additional funding to programs that do not meet targets and does not publicly document funding requests that are denied. The report recommends greater cooperation between the U.S. global AIDS coordinator and the Global Fund's board chair and executive director (GAO report, June 2005).
- Statehealthfacts.org: Statehealthfacts.org -- the Kaiser Family Foundation's online source for state-by-state and national data on demographics, health and health policy -- has added new data on HIV testing and reporting policies and criminalization of HIV transmission by state (statehealthfacts.org, 6/13).
