Events Address Cancer, Health Insurance
The following highlights recent events that addressed minority health issues.

American Cancer Society: ACS' San Bernardino and Riverside County branches recently conducted a Spanish-language conference that provided participants with information about colon, breast and blood cancers, the San Bernardino County Sun reports. The conference also offered information on leukemia and lymphoma and where individuals could receive health screenings (Wall, San Bernardino County Sun, 6/9).
- National Association of Hispanic Journalists: NAHJ on Tuesday as part of its 25th annual conference held a town hall forum in San Jose, Calif., that focused on addressing the issue of U.S. residents who are uninsured, the Contra Costa Times reports. According to the Times, Hispanics are among the ethnic groups most affected by a lack of health insurance. In California, 28% of Hispanics are uninsured, the Times reports. Participants aimed to create solutions for Hispanics and other ethnic groups to propose to policymakers (Olvera, Contra Costa Times, 6/11).
